World Arts Organization is a member of the International Network of Expressive Arts Therapy Training Centres and interfaces with the European Graduate School, Division of Arts, Health and Society.

EXA training with World Arts Org. can be taken toward certification or as part of an MA or PhD program offered by the European Graduate School.

Markus’ home-based training, both ongoing and intensive formats, happen at the vibrant Roots on Whyte Community Building, in historic Old Strathcona in Edmonton, Canada.

ongoing EXA Training includes five monthly individual sessions as well as the following:

Thursday, November 21 - 6:30 to 9:30 PM and Saturday, November 23, 2019 – 10 AM to 5:30 PM

Optional 5 Day Intensive at St. Stephen’s College - November 25 to 29 - The Artist and the Mystic

Thursday, December 19 – 6:30 to 9:30 PM and Saturday, December 21, 2019 – 10 AM to 5:30 PM

Thursday, January 16 – 6:30 to 9:30 PM and Saturday, January 18, 2020 – 10 AM to 5:30 PM

Thursday, March 5 – 6:30 to 9:30 PM and Saturday March 7, 2020 –10 AM to 5:30 PM

5 Day Intensive - Tuesday thru Saturday – March 31 to April 4, 2020 – 10 AM to 5:30 PM


Acceptance into the program is by interview with Markus Scott-Alexander.

Partial Scholarships are available, please contact Markus for tuition information.
5-Day Intensives may be attended separately from the whole program.

Additional workshops and trainings will be announced throughout the year.


Training with World Arts Organization and the European Graduate School

Markus has taught at the European Graduate School since its inception and is a pioneer in arts-based, body-centered phenomenological psychotherapy education. He teaches internationally and is the author of an upcoming book on Creative Process-based Research. Hailing from New York, Markus and his wife moved to Edmonton in 2002 and shortly after founded the World Arts Organization.

In the coming months he will be part of a 10-Day Intensive in Valetta, Malta (EGS) focusing on Global Health and the Arts and teaching at a conference in Nelson, BC aimed at the arts and social change. Markus will also be leading community art at the next International Expressive Arts Symposium in Finland in Spring 2020 and assisting in starting a new expressive arts therapy training program in Mumbai, India.
